We have achieved better efficiency and labor reduction with inspection work, which has traditionally relied on the human eye, by applying artificial intelligence (AI) technologies such as object recognition and object detection through deep learning. Visual inspection support systems at food factories became fully operational in October 2020 after undergoing evaluation and testing for packaging and pricing processes at five AEON Food Supply LTD bases throughout Japan (Chiba, Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Aichi, and Hyogo).

We are also working on technological developments that contribute to better productivity and safety management at manufacturing sites. Engineers familiar with the characteristics of the target products and services, and experts for artificial intelligence (AI) technology are working closely together to determine the most appropriate methods for tasks, and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are being combined or customized according to the need.
